New England Blackbutt

New England Blackbutt owes its name to the tree's appearance after bushfires, when the base of the trunk - or butt - is charred and blackened. Sourced from the highlands of northern NSW, New England Blackbutt is a fast-growing, versatile hardwood species with colour ranging from golden yellow to pale brown, and occasionally including pinkish overtones. The timber has an even texture and generally straight grain, making it very well suited for interior use applications. As its name suggests, Blackbutt is fire resistant, and is one of seven hardwood timber species that accepted by the Building Commission in Victoria for home construction in bushfire areas. AST also offers custom size and grading options in a range of species for big block parquetry upon request. Contact our sales team for lead times and availability.
